Service Description

This course covers the skills and knowledge required to provide a first aid response and to perform a rescue from live low voltage (LV) electrical apparatus in an electrical industry environment. This does not include overhead lines and underground cables. It includes the organisational workplace requirements for the inspection and use of LV panel rescue equipment, and how it applies to electricity supply industry (ESI) workers and/or electrical industry workers to meet work health and safety (WHS)/occupational health and safety (OHS), mobility and mutual aid requirements. Completing the course will provide an individual with the skills and knowledge to carry out and complete the LV panel rescue procedure and to provide a first aid response to a casualty in a range of situations, in line with first aid guidelines determined by the Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) and other Australian national peak clinical bodies. The program also covers the use of industry-standard PPE and rescue equipment, safe approach distances, site-specific hazard review, isolation processes, and emergency response requirements. Due to the high-risk nature of the industry, this program is regarded as a mandatory requirement for specific roles where employees are required to develop or maintain their professional skills.
